Start with dates
Review the coming week’s appointments and deadlines. Confirm preparation responsibilities and dependencies.
Discuss exceptions
Focus on blocked work, missing information and decisions that need an owner. Leave routine updates in the relevant records.
Review financial administration
Invite the responsible finance person to flag billing or debtor actions requiring attorney input. Keep confidential details within authorised channels.
Close with ownership
Summarise each decision as an action, an owner and a review date. Revisit unfinished actions at the next meeting.
Use a concise agenda
Allow time for approaching dates, blocked matters, workload, billing questions and compliance follow-ups. Ask attendees to identify decisions needed in advance so the meeting focuses on action.
Keep an action log
For each decision, record the matter or topic, agreed action, responsible person, target date and completion evidence. Start the next meeting with unresolved items and escalate work that has no clear owner.
